THE NIGERIAN DREAM

Good day dear friends,

I Hope your weekend was wonderful.

Happy Independence by the way. Yeah! I mean Happy Independence Celebration….In arrears though.

The service today was nothing less than wonderful. It was our INDEPENDENCE SERVICE and our dress code was simply African.

It began with an electrifying prayer session led by Brother Onyedika. This set the pace and the atmosphere for the life transforming service that we experienced this morning. The game got stepped up even further when the praise session ensued with a variety of the different Nigerian languages. Sister Tochi literally led us all into the very presence of God in pure straight-from-the-heart worship.

But believe me, that was just the beginning of the experience.

The next level began with mind blowing testimonies of the transforming power of God which was made manifest in the lives of our brethren which they shared with the church, leaving everyone faith-filled and edified. Like I said, it just kept getting better as the drama team kept the church going with an endless laughter. The faith-filled congregation was led to yet another level by the choir as they ministered the song “God Bless Nigeria” as composed by our own very brother, Chimdi. This left the whole church and atmosphere charged with Love for Nigeria. It was this point that our very own pastor, Pastor Emeka Nwokike, mounted the podium. This marked the beginning of the climax of the service.

The sermon was titled “THE NIGERIAN DREAM”.

In the sermon, Pastor Emeka started by saying he is happy to be a Nigerian and enjoined all of to be happy too being a Nigerian rather than wishing to be an American or the likes of it; Yeah! I mean init…anyone you want to call it. The reason being that God creates nations according to His own purpose, plans and agenda: Having established this fact, Pastor led us into a series of prayers for our Leaders starting with our Nation (Nigeria) and then Our Leaders.

The service just kept getting better. It was at this point that Pastor showed us facts about nations; stating clearly that:

The earth was once one nation

God scattered the nations, but on purpose.

“To Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided…” Gen. 10:25

“Now this is the genealogy of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham and Japheth. From these the coastland peoples of the Gentiles were separated into their lands, everyone according to his language, according to their families, into their nations”. Genesis 10:1 & 5”

The facts just kept getting more interesting as Pastor made us to understand that “When Nations fulfill their God-given purpose and destiny, they flourish, prosper and are blessed for generations to come. However, when nations refuse to recognize their season of manifestation, they perish and are uprooted from the surface of the earth. Hence every 100 years the world map has to be redone.

We are equally made to understand that God Determines Our Race & Nationality “From one human being (one blood) He created all races of people and made them live throughout the whole earth. He Himself fixed beforehand the exact … limits of the places where they would live”.       Acts 17:26

“The Most High assigned nations their lands; He determined where peoples should live… He separated the sons of Adam, He set boundaries of the peoples…” – Deut. 32:8

Stop bad-mouthing and start blessing this our great nation Nigeria. This is because “GOD will… bless you in the LAND that GOD, your God, is giving you” – Deut 28:8

Every nation is supposed to develop the full potentials of their LAND. And how a nation SEES her LAND determines her future.

It is a sign of irresponsibility for a man to leave his father’s compound and continuously spends time in his friend’s father’s compound because his friend’s father’s compound is better that his father’s compound.

Every nation has a season of manifestation as Pastor showed us and clearly backed by the scripture as seen in Acts 17:26 “And He … has determined their pre-appointed times…”

Pastor concluded by stating that this is Nigeria’s time of manifestation as seen in the prophesy of Isaiah concerning Nigeria.

Isaiah 18:1-2

“Woe to the land shadowed with buzzing wings, which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia, Which sends ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of reed on the waters, saying, “Go, swift messengers, to a nation tall and smooth of skin, to a people terrible from their beginning onward, a nation powerful and treading down, whose land the rivers divide.” (NKJV)

Isaiah 18:1-2

“Beyond the rivers of Ethiopia there is a land where the sound of wings is heard. From that land ambassadors come down the Nile in boats made of reeds. Go back home, swift messengers! Take a message back to your land divided by rivers, to your strong and powerful nation, to your tall and smooth-skinned people, who are feared all over the world”. (GNB)

Isaiah 18:7 (NKJV)

“In that time a present will be brought to the Lord of hosts from a people tall and smooth of skin, and from a people terrible from their beginning onward, a nation powerful and treading down, whose land the rivers divide – to the place of the name of the Lord of hosts, to Mount Zion”.

The service ended with a standing ovation for our great nation – Nigeria. The whole church stood at attention to sing the Nigerian National Anthem and the National Pledge.

The service ended and every brethren left with a burning desire to be part of the Nigerian dream which is “ONE NATION BOUND WITH FREEDOM, PEACE AND UNITY; A NATION WHERE PEACE AND JUSTICE SHALL REIGN”…

Join us next Sunday as Pastor Emeka leads us further as we explore “THE ROLE OF THE CHURCH IN CHANGING OUR NATION”.

We love you, just as God does.

See you then.

Have a blessed week.
